Christine AKA Ms. MoneyPenny: Baker & Book-keeper
As a cook I carry on a family tradition that started in my mother’s kitchen in small-town Alabama. She was an incredible baker who filled our home withwarm, comforting aromas—but I didn’t learn to bake until after she passed. Now,every loaf, pie, and cookie I make feels like a conversation with her. Baking keeps me connected to her and in a way I never expected, and I love sharing hernurturing love with my community.

Finally, I may have left the South over 40 years ago, but I still know sugar has no place in real cornbread!

Angela AKA "Fudge Around and Find Out": Baker & Social Media & Blogger for Dough Sisters

Mama and Papa were rolling stones, and life was a great adventure growing up in Bohemian circumstances. But there were also many moments when food was scarce. One of my clearest childhood memories was in a kitchen with a bare pantry,  watching my mother take flour and water and magicking it into warm bread. The little curls of steam coming off that first slice, fresh from the oven, with a pat of melty butter, seemed to me to be heaven. Whether it was this or just natural predilection that led me to being a food blogger,  I can't say. But many years later I read a quote form one of my favorite chefs, Jacques Pepin, saying, "If you have extraordinary bread and extraordinary butter, it's hard to beat bread and butter." I wholeheartedly agree, and in a perfect world, beautiful bread would grow on trees. But in the meantime, we've started Dough Sisters to bring baked goods made with love to our community. Whenever possible, we donate food to local organizations that feed folks. I hope you will enjoy and join us in our baking adventures!
